New Employee Orientation for Nonresident Aliens

Course Description: Nonresident Alien (NRA) Employees may sign up for this orientation to: Obtain help completing W-4 Determine their tax status Avoid having highest withholding rate applied to their paychecks Take advantage of tax treaty benefits, if applicable Learn the very basics in the U.S. taxation for the nonresident aliens NRA Employees are required to bring the following documents to the orientation: Passport(s) Visa(s) I-94 I-20, DS-2019, I-797, and/or any other immigration documents you have. Social Security Card (If just applied for one, the Social Security number application receipt letter is required.) EAD Card, if applicable Also, NRA Employees need to make and bring a copy of all documents listed above. Please do NOT make double sided copies or staple documents together. If NRA Employees have any problems making copies, ask the hiring department for assistance. Passport(s): Bio page, extension records (if any), all U.S. entry stamps (if any). Visa(s): All U.S. visas. I-94: Both front and back I-20, DS-2019, I-797, and/or any other immigration documents: All documents that will help us verify your immigration history. For example, if you are transferring from another school, we need a copy of your old I-20; if you were an F-1 student who is now a J-1 scholar, we need a copy of your old I-20 and your current DS-2019. Social Security Card (If just applied for one, the social security number application receipt letter is required.) EAD Card, if applicable
